First things first. While Ray Wardingley is a Republican, he is INDEPENDENT minded and unlike his opponent, will NOT vote in lockstep with some political caucus believing they have all the answers. Keep that in mind, and you will see how voting GOP will help the 1st district get its fair share of recognition in the Republican-controlled House; and that Ray's conservative beliefs in the tradition of Lincoln and Reagan is the right way to go. Simply put, Ray wants to work WITH the Republican majority to make sure they pass legislation of concern to the people of the 1st district. Ray does not want to rubber-stamp whatever party leaders tell him to. Consider:
It's time for a change.

The 1st District of Illinois has one of the longest current record of electing Congressional Democrats in the nation. It hasn't elected a Republican to represent them in Congress since the beginning of the depression in 1933. Ironically, this has resulted in current economic conditions at nearly the same level of the Depression! Every Democratic elected, decade after decade, promises they will throw gobs of federal money into southwest Cook County to “fix” things, then get elected to a new term by promising they "need more time". We say, ONE TERM IS LONG ENOUGH TO START SEEING RESULTS. One party government is oppressive. A healthy Democracy consists of a TWO-party system. If one group can't get results after a few years and "if [they] won't use their power to help people, it's time to step aside, because [we] will", in the words of former President Clinton.
Decades of one-party rule is NEVER healthy, for example:
In Mexico, a major upset occurred in 2000 because 70 years of corrupt one-party rule by an organization called the "PRI" had reduced the country to a third-world status and let crime and drug-traffickers run rampant. Since the election upset by a CONSERVATIVE OUTSIDER, their economy has begun to improve drastically. In the former USSR, their nation collapsed when defeated at the end of the cold war-- because of 70 years of forcing a one-party Communist dictatorship on the people. The backlash against this turned what remained of Russia into a Democratic nation friendly towards the West, which allowed free elections. In what was once the Jim Crow South, civil rights remained at a standstill for over 100 years (1850s-1950s) as the Southern Democrats controlled that region of the nation in lockstep. At the onset of the 1960s, Congress forced voters’ rights' legislation that allowed Republicans to be elected in the South and toppled racist Democrats' iron grip on the district.
Surprised? Many voters believe the Democrats were the ones who ended segregation, unfair voting laws, and other racist agendas, while in fact the majority of these votes resulted from a return to REPUBLICAN leadership in the South and elsewhere
In Illinois, Republicans have always worked for racial equality and reached out to all voters.
It’s quite true that the party of Lincoln (Republicans) has not always carried the mantle of Lincoln. While the national party certainly could have done more in past decades to bring people together, but the Civil Rights Movement started in Illinois and the Republicans here certainly have a much better record than the Illinois Democrats, which even they proudly admit include people like Steven "the Negro is not my equal" Douglas. The national Democrats even have a current US Senator from West Virginia who was once a member of the Ku Klux Klan.
Compare this to the Illinois Republicans, who since their founding have had supporters like:

Ray with soon-to-be State Senator Cedra Crenshaw
Perhaps the BEST reason people of all races, especially minorities, should vote Republican comes from African-American Americans themselves. Did you know the former president of the Chicago NAACP is a REPUBLICAN? Rev. Bullock rightfully points out that Chicago Democrats take African-American voters for granted and do nothing for them. You'll hear from people like former congressional candidate Dylan Glenn, a Georgian who told supporters: "I am running for Congress as a Republican. A kinder and gentler America is not at odds with a successful and growing society."
We’ve had 8 years of one-party Democrat rule in Illinois.
40 years of one-party Democrat rule in Cook County.
80 Years of one-party Democrat rule in Chicago.Happy with the results?
On a final note, we ask you to look at current situation in Congress. Some members of Congress are masterful at compromise, and some listen to their constituents. But many others, like OUR Congressman, are not. Does anyone think a Democrat will actually be able to pass legislation "banning all guns" like RUSH wants to do? Fat chance. His bill will die off just as quickly as a bill on the opposite end of the extreme would be, a bill giving gun stamps to all so they can arm themselves for free! Electing an independent-minded Republican would end this nonsense-- and electing an independent-minded President would end the bitterness. In any case, Ray Wardingley has pledged that he will work with everyone-- Republican, Democrats, and Independents alike. He has signed a pledge to do so. Has our current Congressman EVER agreed to compromise?? And perhaps the biggest example why our Congressman is out of touch…
ILLINOIS’ 1ST DISTRICT REPRESENTATIVE,
CONGRESSMAN BOBBY RUSH, LED THE FIGHT
TO INSTALL ROD BLAGOJEVICH’S SENATOR, ROLAND BURRIS
REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER!

The all or nothing charade must stop NOW-- only a Republican has pledged to bring relief to poor kids, to working families, to disabled vets, to suffering senior citizens. Only a Republican has carried the mantle for issues raised by Rush's DEMOCRATIC opponents in the primary. Have YOU seen any of Rush's former opponent endorse HIM? We all know the answer but the question is WHY. In 1980, Reagan asked voters to decide the election on a simple question: "Are you better off than you were eight years ago"? Bill Clinton did the same in 1992, and told voters "Don't stop thinking about tomorrow". President Obama had the same message in 2008, except it didn’t apply in his OWN state because HIS party has already been in power forever. It's time to throw the INCUMBENT rascal out-- they've had eight years to their job, and eight years is LONG enough. The voters of this district have rejected "new" leadership from the same party-- now the only thing that stands between more FAILED leadership from Washington is a NEW party, and a NEW candidate, Ray Wardingley.
So it's time for the simple question. Look around you. Look at the schools, the jobs, and the issues that people care about. Then ask yourself: WHERE’S BOBBY?
How can I find out more?
This is Ray's favorite part of the website because it gives our campaign the opportunity to get in touch with YOU at the grassroots level. Ray's campaign is strictly by the people and for the people, because we don't have any bigwigs at the national level running this show
Learning about the 1st District-- are YOU a resident?

If you or your friends and family live in the CHICAGOLAND area (all the way from Southern Wisconsin to Northwest Indiana), you can help DIRECTLY. There are roughly 10 million people here, so we need to get the word out. The entire area is only about an hour's drive to Wardingley campaign headquarters. If you live elsewhere but have friends or relatives in the Southside of Chicago, tell them about Ray Wardingley!! Even better, if you live within the district itself, you can volunteer directly for the campaign. Check the map below to see if you live within the gray area or click here for an enlarged map of the 1st District:
We need to spread Ray's message throughout the neighborhood's of Chicago's south side, and we will not write off an area or concede any of it to the opposition. If you live in one of the suburbs or Chicago neighborhoods listed below, do not hesitate to call us or spread the Wardingley message on your own.
