WHERE RAY STANDS ON THE ISSUES

BAILOUTS/STIMULUS: NO MORE BAILOUTS! Also, we have spent more money on "stimulus" spending that we spent on Iraq in seven years, and have nothing to show for it. The out-of-control spending by Congress is burdening future generations. I am in favor of repealing TARP and other government bailouts. We should use existing funds allocated for the stimulus to pay for unemployment benefits for Americans hit hardest by our recession, instead of borrowing additional money and driving America further into bankruptcy.

CONGRESSIONAL EARMARKS: Washington D.C. insiders have spent years putting their little pet projects into unrelated bills and then forcing Congress to vote for the entire bill so they get their precious little pork passed automatically. If elected, I will introduce legislation to end this! Let's have transparency and honesty in government. If Congressmen believe they need funds for their district, they need to introduce legislation related to that and make their case to Congress and the American people. No more "Bridges to Nowhere"!

ROLE OF GOVERNMENT: I support cutting bureaucracy and waste, members of both parties in Congress need to return to fiscal discipline. We can do this by electing outsiders instead of career politicians. We MUST restore ethics and morality to politics, especially in Illinois. I oppose any pay increases for Congressmen during this time of economic recession. Government must stop being "Big Brother". Government exists to do what people cannot do for themselves, and has an obligation to protect life, liberty, and property.

JOBS: What happened to the "recovery summer"? Where are the jobs? Congress and the White House are in denial and continue to steer America 100 MPH in the WRONG direction. I understand the concerns of real Americans, because come from a working class background and fully support the right of workers to organize and petition for a redress of their grievances. I support passing legislation to ensure the members of unions and fraternal orders are given what has been rightfully promised to them, especially pension benefits. As Congressman, I will oppose insane trade policies and amnesty bills that send our jobs overseas or encourage illegal aliens to come here and take our jobs. I will work to free up the hostile anti-business climate and cut the red tape to help America's small businesses and our mom-and-pop stores prosper again.

TAXES: The typical American pays more in taxes than is spent on food, clothing, shelter, and transportation. I oppose letting the current tax cuts expire, and oppose any and all income taxes increases. I support across-the-board tax relief. I believe our current income tax system and the IRS should be abolished, and replaced with the FairTax system that uses a national retail tax system instead. EDUCATION: I support reducing class sizes for more learning opportunities I believe in teaching basic skills to students I am in favor of school choice and school vouchers, especially for Chicago students in failing public schools. We should look after our own first. I support using funds to grant more scholarships and grants to need based citizens, not giving education benefits, free universal preschool and "in-state tuition" to illegal aliens.

VETERANS: The state of Illinois ranks almost dead last in Veteran's care. We must actively lobby the V.A. to be more proactive for Illinois. I support our U.S. Senator's efforts on this issue and hope to work with them in a bipartisan way. The closing of Veteran's hospitals and the government denial of problems that have hurt veterans like Agent Orange is a national disgrace. Veterans should receive Comprehensive Disability Compensation for those with service connected injuries and will fight against any government agency to nullify or reduce earned benefits to veterans and their survivors, including but not limited to compensation, pensions, education, and health care. I strongly support equitable pay and benefits to our military personnel, and generous health, education, and other benefits to their dependants.

IMMIGRATION: I am a very strong supporter of LEGAL immigration. Legal immigrants are the backbone of our nation and have enriched America's culture throughout our history. I oppose "racial profiling" and immigration quotas based on race. However, I do NOT support granting ANY government benefits to those who are here ILLEGALLY, including in-state tuition, driver's licenses, health care, and welfare. Illegal immigrants should not be given preferential treatment over those who come here legally and obey our laws. I do not support amnesty, a.k.a. "a path to citizenship" for people already here illegally. They should be returned to their country of origin and made to reapply legally. Period. Illegal immigration is illegal!

TERM LIMITS:I support term limits for all three branches of government in Illinois, and personally pledge to serve no more than three terms in office as your Congressman. I am not and will never be "career" politician. We need to replace the incumbent with citizen-legislators. I also support term limits for leadership positions such as Speaker, Majority and Minority Leaders, Whips, etc.

2nd AMENDMENT: The bill of rights in the U.S. Constitution, provide for a right to keep and bear arms. I support this. We do not need new gun laws; we need to enforce the laws already on the books. I would vote for conceal-carry laws for those who have undergone a mandatory background check and completed the necessary training classes on how to properly use a gun.

MARRIAGE, FAMILY & CHILDREN: The Declaration of Independence that all persons are created--not simply born-equal, and the U.S. Constitution states that no person shall not be denied the right to life without due process of law. Accordingly, unborn children are entitled to the same right to life that other Americans enjoy. I am 100% Pro-Life and oppose abortion with the following necessary exception: when necessary to prevent death of the mother. I fully support ADULT stem research but do not support taxpayer funding to destroy human embryos, which has proven to a red herring. I support repealing Roe v. Wade, an end to taxpayer funding of abortion, and enacting parental notification laws before a minor undergoes an abortion procedure. I support gay and lesbians being free from discrimination and having the right to work and live normal public lives free of harassment, but the unique status of marriage should be preserved for one man and one woman.
